Steven Schmidt is Barnyard Theatre’s Artistic Director, as well as, president of the non-profit board. He is one of the founding members of the company, having directed Barnyard Theatre’s inaugural production of My Avisia Winger (2004) written by Brian Oglesby. Additionally, Steven has directed a majority of Barnyard’s productions over the last 9 years, including Psyche (2012).

Steven is employed as B Street Theatre’s Technical Director. He has an MFA in Technical Design and Production from the Yale School of Drama. He taught Stage Craft and Managed the Instructional Performing Arts Building at Davis High School from 2006-2008. Steven was born and raised in Yolo County and is happy to continue to be an active part of the community.

Brian Oglesby is Barnyard Theatre’s literary manager. He is one of the founding members of the company, having penned the barn’s first production My Avisia Winger. Last summer, he worked with playwright Meghan Brown to develop Barnyard’s current mainstage, Psyche. This summer, he is organizing Sunday’s Nights of New Plays Festival, which will showcase works-in-progress from the Company. He is going into his second year at the University of Texas at Austin’s MFA program for Playwriting. His short plays have been National Finalists at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. He also has an MFA for fiction from UC-Riverside.
